NIH Consensus Statement on Celiac Disease (DD-218)
The National Institutes of Health convened a Consensus Development Conference on Celiac Disease June 28 to 30, 2004. The Panel concluded that educating physicians, dietitians, nurses, and the public about celiac disease, standardizing serologic testing and criteria for the diagnosis, adopting a definition of a gluten-free diet, developing testing procedures for gluten in foods, and forming a federation of celiac disease for health care providers, families, the public, and organizations were all needed in order to increase physician and public awareness of celiac disease.
