Thematic Initiatives 2007-2009
Fact Sheet:  pdf   html

The NIH Neuroscience Blueprint emerged from the premise that there are fundamental themes in neuroscience research that cross Institute and Center boundaries.  In fiscal years 2007, 2008, and 2009, Blueprint RFAs will focus on three themes, respectively: (1) neurodegeneration during disease and aging; (2) neurodevelopment throughout the lifespan; and (3) neuroplasticity, from the molecular level to the behavioral level.

K-12 Education Workshop 2008

On August 5-6, 2008, the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research held an invited workshop to gather expert input on the types of efforts or initiatives the NIH might consider in the area of K-12 education.

Stem Cell Workshop 2007

In Spring 2007, the Blueprint held a workshop to address the feasibility and usefulness of promoting research on human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and their roles in the nervous system.  The workshop focused on ways to facilitate research related to targeted differentiation of hESCs along specific neuronal and glial lineages, and identified tools and resources that are needed to advance the field.
