H.R. 3658Stroke Treatment and Ongoing Prevention Act of 2003
On December 8, 2003, Representative Lois Capps (D-CA) introduced H.R. 3658, the Stroke
Treatment and Ongoing Prevention Act, a bill to amend the Public Health Service Act to strengthen
education, prevention, and treatment programs relating to stroke. Provisions of H.R. 3658 would
authorize the Secretary of HHS to conduct studies on stroke care, patient access to currently approved
and newly developed stroke prevention and treatment services, the effect of existing public awareness
campaigns on stroke, or any other studies that the Secretary determines are necessary or useful. H.R.
3658 was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. For similar legislation, refer to
