H.R. 2741—National Cancer Act of 2003

On July 15, 2003, Representative Lois Capps (D-CA) introduced H.R. 2741, the National Cancer Act of 2003. Among other provisions, this legislation would expand cancer research, expand access to cancer drugs and treatment, require health insurers to allow access to cancer clinical trials, and provide quality of care and patient navigators. H.R. 2741 was referred to the House Committees on Energy and Commerce, on Education and the Workforce and on Ways and Means for consideration of the provisions within the jurisdiction of the respective committees. The companion measure, S. 1101, was introduced by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) on May 21.
