Title 5 Special Salary Rates (OPM)
NIH Title 38 Special Salary Rates (PDF by series)
- The table for Medical Instrument Technician, N-09, in Phoenix, Arizona was removed because it is no longer being used.
- Histopathology Technician, N-21 was terminated because locality pay surpasses the special rate at all grades and steps.
- The following tables also contain grades/steps that are now paid on the GS-DCB locality table:
- Medical Instrument Technician (Cardiac Catherization), N-13 (grade 11, steps 6 through 10)
- Medical Instrument Technician (Pulmonary Functions), N-15 (grade 8, steps 6 through 10; and all of grade 9)
- Physicians’ Assistant, N-19 (grades 9 and 11, steps 6 through 10)
- Health Physicist, N-20 (grades 12 through 15)

The following T38 tables have been discontinued because the 2006 Washington DC locality rate has overtaken the special salary rate tables. GS employees remaining in these occupations now are paid the DC locality rate. The following T38 tables have been discontinued since they are no longer in use. All CC employees in these occupations are paid under the 2006 Pay Ranges established for Clinical Research Support (CRS) (.html) (.pdf):

Other Title 38 tables have been truncated at specific grades/steps because the DC locality rate has overtaken the special rate at those grades/steps. Affected employees will now be paid the DC locality rate.
