Obtaining A Username And Password

To register, complete the on-line form available at http://www.eurekalert.org/register.php. You will receive a username and password via e-mail within one business day. All users are encouraged to register individually.

 

Logging in to EurekAlert!

Go to http://www.eurekalert.org and enter your username and password into the log-in fields in the upper left-hand corner of the page. The "PIO Contents" page will be displayed. If this is the first time you log onto EurekAlert!, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the resources and information available on this page.

My Settings (http://www.eurekalert.org/myeurekalert.php): This section allows you to change your password, update your account information, and sign up for an e-mail alert service.

NIH page (http://www.eurekalert.org/nih.php): This section features press releases from NIH.

Help (http://www.eurekalert.org/pio/help.php): This section provides detailed instructions for using EurekAlert!.

Journal Contributors (http://www.eurekalert.org/jrnlcontrib.php): This feature provides information about NIH researchers who will be publishing in upcoming issues of Science and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

 

Submitting a Press Release

Go to http://www.eurekalert.org

Enter your username and password into the log-in fields in the upper left-hand corner of the page.

At the following page, click on "Submit Release."

Choose the type of press release you would like to submit.

Complete the first page of the form by cutting and pasting text from your document. You will be asked to provide a title, contact information, summary, and other basic information.

Continue to the next page and choose up to ten keywords that best describe your press release.

Continue to the next page and indicate whether the research described in your press release is being published in a journal or presented at a scientific meeting.

Continue to the next page to review your release. If you are satisfied, click "submit."

You will receive a confirmation via e-mail when your release has been posted. Press releases are posted during business hours, 8:30am-6pm ET, Monday-Friday.

To make changes to your press release once it has been posted, send an email to webmaster@eurekalert.org or call 202-326-6716.

 

Submitting an Expert

Go to http://www.eurekalert.org

Enter your username and password into the log-in fields in the upper left-hand corner of the page.

At the following page, click on "Manage Experts," then select the "Add Expert" link.

Complete the form that follows, taking care to complete all fields marked in red.

You will receive a confirmation via e-mail when your expert has been posted. Experts are posted during business hours, 8:30am-6pm ET, Monday-Friday.
