Prevalence of Breast Cancer Risk Factors Among American Indian Women in North Carolina

Grant #: Minority Supplement
PI Name: Tsosie U
Title: Prevalence of Breast Cancer Risk Factors Among American Indian Women in North Carolina
Institute: National Cancer Institute

The purpose of this work is to survey Native American women aged 40 years and over to ascertain prevalence of risk factors for breast cancer. This is important as there is little data on risk factors in this population associated with screening or breast cancer. This work will be done in collaboration with a health liaison person identified in each tribe/organization within the state. The survey will be distributed to all women in each tribe/organization aged 40 years and over. Findings will be analyzed by screened and not screened, and in comparison to CMR risk data collected in another effort as well as what is in the literature on non-Native American women.
