During the 110th Congress, I have agreed to co-sponsor the following selected measures which deal with criminal justice issues and our nation's courts. This is not a comprehensive list of all the legislation I have co-sponsored related to crime and courts. You can view a comprehensive list at the Legislation Co-Sponsored Section of this site or through the Library of Congress Thomas site.
Legislation I have supported includes:
- S. 1001, a bill to restore Second Amendment rights in the District of Columbia. Itnroduced March 27, 2007.
- S. 525, a bill to amend Title 28, United States Code, to provide for the appointment of additional Federal circuit judges, to divide the Ninth Judical Circuit of the United States into 2 circuits, and for other purposes. Introduced February 8, 2007.
- S. 398, a bill to amend the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act to identify and remove barriers to reducing child abuse, to provide for examinations of certain children, and for other purposes.
- S. 388, a bill to amend Title 18, United States Code, to provide a national standard in accordance with which nonresidents of a State may carry concealed firearms in the State. Introduced January 25, 2007.
- S.Res. 112, a resolution designating April 6, 2007, as "National Missing Persons Day." Introduced March 20, 2007; passed/agreed to in the Senate by Unanimous Consent on April 17, 2007.
- S.Res. 100, a resolution designating the week beginning March 12, 2007, as "National Safe Place Week." Introduced March 7, 2007; passed/agreed to in the Senate by Unanimous Consent on March 7, 2007.
Other actions I have taken to support efforts to keep Idaho communities and residents safe include:
- Led an effort in the U.S. Senate to make firearm regulations on public lands consistent. Click here (PDF format) to read the letter, signed by 47 Senators to Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne.
- Successfully provided funding for projects in Idaho that address public safety and community policing and improvement efforts.
