Areas of Focus

  • Brains and Behavior
    Brains and Behavior is a multidepartmental umbrella organization that promotes research broadly related to the Neurosciences. It sponsors student fellowships, provides seed grants for research, and promotes collaborations across departments.
  • Molecular Basis of Disease
    This is a program in computational biomedicine that includes faculty in six departments engaged in interdisciplinary research and provides both graduate and undergraduate fellowships as well as support for the stateof- the-art facilities in these departments.
  • Partnership for Urban Health
    This area seeks to understand how the urban environment affects the health and well-being of people who reside and work in the metropolitan Atlanta area using an interdisciplinary approach to research.

Research Computing
Computing provides researchers with systems and application support regarding high-performance computing.

Applied Physiology Lab
The lab is a 2,000 square foot facility that serves the research, teaching, and service needs of the Department of Kinesiology and Health.

Bioimaging Core Facility
The facility has a wide array of equipment and facilities dedicated to imaging Biological samples from the atomic to the macroscopic levels.

Biomechanics and Ergonomics Lab
This 2,800 square foot biomechanics research facility, was established in 1989 to enhance biomechanical research productivity in the areas of sport and exercise activities, medical rehabilitation, and industrial and occupational activities.

The CHARA Array
The array is a six-telescope optical/infrared interferometric array located at Mount Wilson, California.

Culture and Fermentation Core Facility
This facility provides a state-of-the-art fermentation facility with modern equipment.

DNA/Protein Core Facility
The DNA/Protein Core provides a number of services including DNA sequencing and microarray analysis, proteomics services and other generic services.

Digital Arts Entertainment Lab (DAEL)
Digital Arts is a multimillion-dollar entertainment research and production facility that facilitates the creation and testing of digital media content and incubates emerging media arts businesses, trains graduate students and engages in academic research.

Instructional Technology Center
The Center serves as a resource center providing learning spaces, technology workshops, student computer access, and specialized educational technology resources.

Collabtech
Collabtech is Georgia State University’s joint-venture business incubator, with state-of-the-art facilities, fosters the opportunity for profitable collaboration between faculty and start-up biotechnology firms.
