House to Consider Legislation Postponing DTV Transition Today: Hill an original cosponsor of House companion bill

(Washington, DC) - The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to consider legislation today that would delay the Digital Television (DTV) Transition.  The bill, S. 328, would postpone the transition set for February 17 for four months until June 12, 2009.  Congressman Baron Hill is an original cosponsor of the House version of this bill, H.R. 681, and intends to support S. 328 when it comes up for a vote later today.  ... view more

Hill Asks Committee Leaders to Put Constituents First During DTV Transition: Requests additional funding for the converter box coupon program and recourse for those who received expired coupons

(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill has urged the leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce to consider ways of further aiding Hoosier families during the Digital Television (DTV) Transition.  In response to concerns of his constituents, Hill has asked the appropriate chairmen and ranking members of the Energy and Commerce Committee to provide additional funding for the already depleted DTV converter box coupon program and allow for recourse to those who have received expired coupons in the mail. ... view more

Floyd, Orange, Perry, Scott and Spencer Counties to Receive Workforce Investment Act Funds: Money will be used for temporary employment program

(Washington, DC) - Congressman Baron Hill announced a grant today for Floyd, Orange, Perry, Scott and Spencer Counties.  The U.S. Department of Labor has issued National Emergency Grant Funds through the Workforce Investment Act to 12 counties in Indiana, five of which are located in the Ninth Congressional District.  The $720,000 grant will be administered by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.  ... view more
