Every Coast Guard cadet completes core studies in sciences and liberal arts, then specializes in one of 13 programs of study:

Civil Engineering
Environmental or Structural

Electrical Engineering
Computer or Systems

Government
International Affairs or Public Policy

Management

Marine and Environmental Sciences
Bio-Environmental, Chem-Environmental or Physical

Mechanical Engineering

Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering

Operations Research and Computer Analysis (Applied Mathematics)

Cadets in their 3rd class (sophomore) year must apply for and be formally accepted into a major before departing on their 2nd class summer training.
