Improving Access to Treatments for Medicare Beneficiaries

July 20, 2007

Approximately 250,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with primary immunodeficiency diseases (PIDD) each year. With today’s medical advances, people who normally would not have survived childhood are able to live normal lives through Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapies.

The Medicare IVIG Access Act of 2007 would improve reimbursements for IVIG products and additional services needed to care for seniors with PIDD and other conditions that require IVIG treatments. The quality and accessibility of health care is so important to our seniors, and I look forward to supporting this legislation as it makes its way to the House floor.

America is blessed with the best health care system in the world.  However, we must keep working to make it more available and affordable for everyone.
