We must protect the nation’s most historic landscapes and wilderness areas for future generations to enjoy.  Allowing the construction of a cell tower on Missionary Ridge, in the view of the National Park Service’s Bragg Reservation would detract from the beauty of the natural surrounding and undermine the purpose of the National Park System.  The effects of a proposed cell tower on historic sites should be considered in addition to the needs of area cell phone users during the review process.

That is why I joined my Tennessee colleagues in sending a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) asking them to re-evaluate Wireless Properties’ petition to place the cell tower on Missionary Ridge.  The FCC has decided to reopen its review process. I will continue to monitor this situation as it develops.
