Returning Servicemembers (OEF/OIF) |
National Guard and Reserve What can you do for me?You will be given an opportunity to enroll in Department of Veterans Affairs world class health care and dental care and evaluation when you arrive at the demobilization stations across the country as well as learn about how to access health and dental care at the local VA and other VA services and benefits you are eligible to receive prior to your separation from active duty and returning home to reserve status. You will be given an opportunity for VA staff to personally reach out to returning service members/veterans by phone or at the military unit to identify if they have health care, dental or other needs or concerns in this post-deployment period. You will be given an opportunity for VA staff to answer your questions about health and dental care and other VA services by using a national call center to link you to the experts and answer your questions. You will be given an opportunity to link with state coordinators to assist you and your family in accessing VA services and benefits that you have earned when you return home. If you are wounded and are undergoing rehabilitation while you await your determination for a military disability, you will have an opportunity to learn about the many VA services and benefits that are available to you while you are still on active duty. |
EligibilityReserve and National Guard members may be eligible for VA benefits under certain conditions. View the brochure "A Summary of Benefits for National Guard and Reserve Personnel" available from the VHA Forms and Publications web site. State InitiativeSeverely injured service members are provided with a consent to release information form which is sent to their State's Department of Veterans Affairs (SDVA). Signing this form allows the State DVA to contact the consenting service member to inform them of STATE Veterans Benefits that are available. These benefits are provided in addition to those allowed by the USVA. In other words, they are yours to receive...with no impact on your USDVA benefits. If you or a family member are interested in participating in this program mail your respective State DVA. National Guard/Reserve Service SitesArmy National Guard Links will take you outside the Department of Veterans Affairs web site. You must have a viewer to read the documents.
