Action on Banking & Financial Services
During the 110th Congress, I have agreed to co-sponsor the following selected measures which deal with our nation's banking and financial services industries. This is not a comprehensive list of all the legislation I have co-sponsored related to banking and financial services. - S. 1743, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the dollar limitation on contributions to funeral trusts. Introduced June 28, 2007.
- S. 1726, a bill to regulate certain State taxation of interstate commerce, and for other purposes. Introduced June 28, 2007.
- S. 1623, a bill to require the withholding of United States contributions to the United Nations until the President certifies that the United Nations is not engaged in global taxation schemes. Introduced June 14, 2007.
- S. 1621, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to treat certain farming business machinery and equipment as 5-year property for purposes of depreciation. Introduced June 14, 2007.
- S. 1439, a bill to reauthorize the broadband loan and loan guarantee program under title VI of the Rural Electrification Act of 1936. Introduced May 21, 2007.
- S. 1322, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to improve the operation of employee stock ownership plans, and for other purposes. Introduced May 7, 2007.
- S. 1145, a bill to amend title 35, United States Code, to provide for patent reform. Introduced April 18, 2007.
- S. 1010, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to encourage guaranteed lifetime income payments from annuities and similar payments of life insurance proceeds at dates later than death by excluding from income a portion of such payments. Introduced March 28, 2007.
- S. 940, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to permanently extend the subpart F exemption for active financing income. Introduced March 20, 2007.
- S.Amdt. 956 to S. 761, to express the sense of the Senate regarding concerns that United States capital markets are losing their competitive edge in intensifying global competition, and to recommend that Congress and the Administration take the necessary steps to reclaim the preeminent position of the United States in the global financial services marketplace. Introduced April 24, 2007; agreed to in Senate by unanimous consent on April 25, 2007.
- S. 15, a bill to establish a new budget process to create a comprehensive plan to rein in spending, reduce the deficit, and regain control of the Federal budget process. Introduced May 22, 2007.
- S.Res. 126, a resolution designating April 2007 as "Financial Literacy Month". Introduced March 27, 2007; passed/agreed to in Senate on March 27, 2007.
