WASHINGTON, DC— Senator Edward M. Kennedy today released the following statement on President-elect Obama’s nomination of Bill Lynn to be Deputy Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon.
"I’ve known Bill for over 20 years and he exemplifies the very best of public service. Bill did an outstanding job for me in his six years as my Armed Services Committee staffer. He’s a proven leader in both the public and private sectors of the national security community and his previous service in the Department uniquely qualify him to help the Department run more efficiently and effectively. I look forward to working with Bill and I send him my warmest congratulations. I’m sure his wife Mary and their daughter Catherine are very proud of him.”
