PUBLIC INVITED TO ATTEND HEARING REGARDING PROPOSED WATER RATE INCREASE

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will hold a public participation hearing regarding the Golden State Water Company’s proposed rate increase on February 4, 2009 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The public hearings will be held in the City Council Chambers at Placentia City Hall, located at 401 E. Chapman Ave., Placentia, CA 92870.
Customers of Golden State Water Company, which serves approximately 80% of Placentia, are encouraged to attend this important hearing to voice their opinions or concerns before the CPUC regarding the proposed rate increase. If you are unable to attend this hearing you can also email or write to the Public Utilities Commission to protest Golden State Water Company’s rate increase at

Golden State Water Company has submitted an application to the CPUC to increase waste rates by 4.47% in 2009. This application also includes additional increases that will result in up to a 35% increase in water rates by the year 2012. The City Council strongly opposes this increase and has approved a letter at their September 16, 2008 meeting asking the CPUC to reject Golden State’s application. In addition, the City of Placentia and has joined with several cities in the area in filing a rate protest with the CPUC.

The City of Placentia has launched a new online service request program “AT YOUR SERVICE”. The request program will allow residents and businesses to communicate their requests to City staff from anywhere they can access a computer. This system will allow users to set up accounts and track service requests they have submitted. The process to set up an account is fairly quick and easy.
