WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Sam Brownback (R-KS) and Pat Roberts (R-KS) today applauded Senate confirmation of Eric Melgren as United States District Judge for the District of Kansas.

"I am certain that Eric Melgren, a Kansas native, will do a great job on the federal bench," said Brownback. "Eric is a highly qualified individual. Throughout his distinguished career, he has consistently upheld the Constitution and the highest moral standards and has proven he will be an outstanding U.S. District Judge. I thank my Senate colleagues for confirming Eric Melgren's nomination."

In July of this year, Melgren was nominated to replace U.S. District Judge Monti Belot, who sits on the federal bench in Wichita. Melgren was unanimously rated "well qualified" by the American Bar Association, which is the highest rating the ABA can give judicial nominees.

"Eric Melgren is a man of integrity and sound judgment," Roberts said. "His passion for the law will be of great benefit to the state of Kansas and the rest of the nation."
