Senator Carper met with teachers and administrators from the Christina School District to learn about its innovative Smaller Learning Communities Program. The Christina School District was awarded a $1.1 million federal grant to implement this program in the district's three high schools.

Senator Carper participated in a press conference at the Christiana Fire Company, Station 12. The United States Department of Homeland Security awarded the Christiana Fire Company a $245,682 grant to upgrade and replace the existing self-contained breathing apparatus.
