U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, MI-08, issued the following statement today in response to President Obama’s announcement he is moving forward with plans to allow states to regulate auto fuel economy while simultaneously moving forward with federal fuel economy standards:

“Today’s announcements will absolutely destroy jobs in Michigan. With the stroke of a pen, the President has unleashed a hornet’s nest of new local, state and federal regulations on the auto industry. There is no way to know how much money this will cost taxpayers and workers, but we can be certain that it makes a bad situation worse. We have an absolute crisis in the American auto industry and today’s decision to pile on new regulations without any substantive help is a cruel blow to Michigan workers and their families.”
