Tom Petri took the opportunity to inspect experimental hydrogen-powered vehicles and to learn about the Chevrolet Volt, a plug-in electric-gasoline hybrid which GM has scheduled for commercial production in Nov. 2010. Tom Petri has announced that Oshkosh West High School senior Kimberly Powell is the winner of the Congressman's annual 6th Congressional District art contest, as judged by a panel of area artists. Powell's winning submission is an oil painting of two young women entitled "Shift." The first-place artwork chosen in each congressional district will be sent to Washington to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The winning artist is invited to a reception in Washington on June 25 and in addition will receive scholarship opportunities from the Savannah College of Art & Design. |

of students in the school auditorium on the job of being a congressman. Rep. Petri frequently visits schools, social studies and current events classes to share his thoughts about Congress and what it's like to be there.

On April 20, 2006, Rep. Petri toured the RB Royal plant in Fond du Lac, which manufactures brass fittings for Mercury Marine and others. He found a highly-skilled workforce, many of whom have been with the company for a long time - which may help to explain how RB Royal managed to have its all-time best year in 2005, with high hopes for this year.

On Sept. 7, 2005, Rep. Petri took part in a ribbon cutting event in Random Lake celebrating the preservation of rail
service in western Sheboygan County by the Wisconsin Southern Railroad. Rep. Petri played an important role in preventing the abandonment
of 37 miles of rail line by helping to arrange for its acquisition by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and its operation by the
Wisconsin Southern Railroad.

restored colonial settlements at Williamsburg and Jamestown in Virginia earlier this week, and are currently exploring the nation's capital.
