Plans are underway for the 2009 Congressional Art Competition, and high school art students in the First Congressional District are invited to participate.   Details about the exhibit and reception will be posted here soon.

Congressional districts across the country will be holding competitions. Locally, our exhibit will once again be curated by the East End Arts Council. EEAC will also select the judges. The winner of our local competition will have his or her art work hung in a year-long exhibit on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and will be invited to attend an event in D.C. on June 24, 2009 along with other winners from around the country. Three round-trip tickets to D.C. will be provided by a sponsor for the event. An art college scholarship will also be offered to the winner.

Art teachers with students who would like to participate in this exciting opportunity should contact Jane Finalborgo in my Southampton Office at 631-259-8450. Students must be residents of the First Congressional District (Brookhaven, the five East End Towns and parts of Smithtown).
