Hastings Tapped for Top Spot On Key House Panel Historic First for Washington State Lawmaker
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Doc Hastings has been elected to the top Republican spot on the House Committee on Natural Resources for the 111th Congress, which will be sworn in on January 6, 2009.
The eight-term central Washington lawmaker succeeds Rep. Don Young of Alaska, the second most senior Republican in the House, who opted Wednesday not to seek another term as the panel's Ranking Republican Member.
