1/22/08: New London Day - Jennifer Grogan - Defense Funding Bill Passes Again

January 23, 2008

The U.S. Senate passed next year's defense spending bill Tuesday, allowing plans for local military construction projects and an increase in Virginia-class submarine production to move another step forward.

“These funds are good for Connecticut and also help our troops, particularly with a much needed pay raise for the brave men and women serving in our armed forces,” Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., said in a statement. “President Bush has delayed the enactment of this legislation for long enough. It is time for him to support our troops and sign this bill so these critically important funds can be put to use.”
