Tuesday, January 06, 2009 - On The Floor: Commencement of the 11th Congress
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009:
12:00pm: The Senate will convene for the first meeting of the 111th Congress and the swearing in of newly elected and reelected Senators.
Following the swearing in, Senators are encouraged to remain on the floor to establish a quorum. If a quorum is not present, there would be a roll call vote. If a quorum is established, no vote would be necessary.
