Jackson Purchase Energy Corp. Receives USDA Loan October 24, 2006 WASHINGTON, October 24 U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield on Tuesday announced that the Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation has been awarded a $2,833,000 low-interest loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The loan will finance the extension of electric service to 325 new consumers, build 19 miles of new distribution line and make other necessary system improvements and upgrades.

"Affordable electricity plays a critical part in spurring the economic development and improving the quality of life in rural areas. I am pleased that the Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation has been awarded this loan, and I will continue my work in Congress to secure other federal assistance for the Purchase Area," said Whitfield.

The loan is administered by USDAs Rural Development Program. This program is focused on helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America. It supports such essential public facilities and services as water and sewer systems, housing, health clinics, emergency service facilities and electric and telephone service.
