Bennett's Washington County Land Bill Passes the Senate |
Senator Bob Bennett (R-Utah) started off the new congressional session with the passage of a lands bill package (S.22) that included his Washington County Growth & Conservation Act of 2009, a bill critical to address public land preservation and rapid population growth in Washington County.
“This is a very gratifying day for everyone in southern Utah that has been seeking solutions to the wilderness problems in their backyards for more than a decade,” said Bennett. “With the co-sponsorship of Senator Hatch here in the Senate and the work of Congressman Matheson in the House, we finally achieved an agreement that pleases most of the stakeholders. It’s personally satisfying for me to be able to bring conservation groups together with local officials in a way that has not been possible before.”
