Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is pleased that the FY2007 Transportation, Treasury, and Housing and Urban Development, and the Judiciary Appropriations bill includes $250,000 in funding for Monroe County. The bill was marked-up by the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Treasury, and Housing and Urban Development, and the Judiciary this week.

The $250,000 included by the Appropriations Subcommittee, provides funding to the Marathon Municipal Boot Key Harbor for the construction of facilities to serve marina users.  This facility will help to promote economic development at the City of Marathon's most important harbor facility.  With these upgrades, Boot Key Municipal Harbor and Marina will play an even larger role within the Florida Keys tourism industry. 

Said Ros-Lehtinen: "This funding demonstrates Congress' commitment to ensuring Monroe County receives the support it so richly deserves.  I look forward to working with my Colleagues in the Senate as the Appropriations process continues forward."
