Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, is pleased with the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) grants awarded to the Archdiocese of Miami as well as to the Miami Beach Community Development Corporation for the construction of housing units for the elderly.

The grants, which total $800,000, will be used in the predevelopment phase of the Supportive Housing for the Elderly program at both the Archdiocese’s program as well as at the Development Corporation’s site.

Said Ros-Lehtinen: “These grants are an important phase of the federal/local responsibility to assure that our needy senior citizens get the housing assistance they require and need. Both the Archdiocese of Miami and the Miami Beach Development Agency are fine examples of the good that can be accomplished through good, solid federal/local partnerships.”
