Ros-Lehtinen Joins Other In Asking Senator Dodd To Support Real Legislative Proposals On The Homeowners Insurance Crisis |
|||||
Washington, DC ---- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, joined other Florida Representatives in sending a letter to Senator Chris Dodd, Chair of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs asking that he reconsider his support of a bill establishing a study commission and instead implement tangible legislative proposals that would bring real insurance savings to Florida homeowners. The letter, signed by Representatives Ginny Brown-Waite, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart, Vern Buchanan, Mario Diaz-Balart and Gus Bilirakis states that the Bill supported by Sen. Dodd only offers short term solutions to a long term and complex problem. The letter also expresses disappointment that the only action to be taken by the Senators bill is for a study commission to be formed. Said Ros-Lehtinen, "If a solution is not found to this vexing problem, scores of Floridians will be susceptible to losing their homes, businesses and their livelihood. Homeowners in my District have been absorbing alone the skyrocketing insurance premiums for too long and they are desperately seeking real solutions, not more blue ribbon panels to study an issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible." ### |
