Ros-Lehtinen Very Pleased With Congressional Resolution Honoring The Brave Men & Women Of The Coast Guard

Washington, DC --- Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, is very pleased with yesterday’s vote overwhelmingly approving a Congressional Resolution honoring the brave men and women of the United States Coast Guard for interdicting a record amount of narcotics during the 2007 calendar year. The final vote was 391 to 0.

The resolution lauds the Coast Guard for their tireless work, dedication, and commitment to protecting the United States and the interdiction at sea of over 350,000 pounds of cocaine during 2007, far surpassing all of their previous records.

With several Coast Guard installations in the 18th Congressional District of Florida, Ros-Lehtinen knows the importance and significance of the superb work the Coast Guard performs day in and day out.

Said Ros-Lehtinen, “I would like to thank the incredibly professional and courageous men and women from my home District of South Florida who serve their country in the Coast Guard. These individuals work hard every day to assure that our coastlines and shores are protected from drug traffickers, human smugglers and possible terrorist infiltration. This vote lets the Coast Guard know that a grateful Congress supports them and is proud of their mission.”
