2006 Spirit of Idaho Awards
During 2006, I was pleased to honor thirteen Idahoans and one Idaho business with the Spirit of Idaho Award. Their generous contributions did much to improve their communities and the great State of Idaho.

February 24, 2006 - Kodiak Northwest, Twin Falls. For the company's efforts to assist a local family, the Liens, who were snowbound for several weeks. During Mr. Lien's deployment in Iraq in 2005, Kodiak Northwest helped dig the family out. | ||
April 4, 2006- Dolores Larsen, Weiser. For efforts to combat family and domestic violence. She founded Rose Advocates in Weiser and is active in providing services to domestic violence abuse victims throughout rural Idaho. | ||
July 4, 2006 - Sarah Chandler, Pocatello. For her efforts, during her tenure as Miss Pocatello, to raise awareness about breast cancer detection. | ||
July 7, 2006 - Ray Kincaid, Sandpoint. For his volunteer efforts at Farmin-Stidwell Elementary School in helping children to read. | ||
July 7, 2006 -Rachael Pinkerton, Couer d'Alene. For her representation of her community and state as a spelling bee champion. | ||
July 7, 2006 - Michael Armon, Couer d'Alene. For his effort and achievements in high school track. | ||
August 8, 2006 - Mike McLendon, Idaho Falls. For his tireless efforts to benefit veterans, active military and their families. | ||
August 30, 2006 - George Warrell, Twin Falls. For his conservation efforts to restore and create habitat areas for ducks, geese, moose and deer. | ||
September 1, 2006 - Anne Voillequé and Louise Nelson, Pocatello. For their endowment work on the new Native American Business Program on the Idaho State University campus. | ||
