Action on Family & Social Policy

I am pleased to sponsor legislation and take actions that will support policies to encourage strong family and social structure. This is not a comprehensive list of all the legislation I have co-sponsored related to family and social policy issues. Legislation I have introduced or co-sponsored in the 110th Congress:

  • S. 1260, a bill to protest information relating to consumers, to require notice of security breaches, and for other purposes. Introduced May 1, 2007
  • S. 1036, a bill to amend the Public Health Service Act to prohibit human cloning. Introduced March 29, 2007.
  • S. 640, a bill to amend the Public Health Service Act to establish an Office of Men's Health. Introduced February 15, 2007.
  • S. 507, a bill to amend Title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for reimbrusement of certified midwife services and to provide for more equitable reimbursement rates for certified nurse-midwife services. Introduced February 6, 2007.
  • S. 474, a bill to award a Congressional Gold Medal to Michael Ellis DeBakey, M.D. Introduced February 1, 2007.
  • S. 398, a bill to amend the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act to identify and remove barriers to reducing child abuse, to provide for examinations of certain children, and for other purposes. Introduced January 25, 2007.
  • S. 356, a bill to ensure that women seeking an abortion are fully informed regarding the pain experienced by their unborn child. Introduced January 22, 2007.
  • S.Res. 236, a resolution supporting the goals and ideals of the National Anthem Project, which has worked to restore America's voice by re-teaching Americans to sing the national anthem. Introduced June 14, 2007.
  • S.Res. 213, a resolution supporting National Men's Health Week. Introduced May 22, 2007; passed/agreed to in the Senate by Unanimous Consent on June 14, 2007.
  • S.Res. 205, a resolution designating June 2007 as "National Internet Safety Month." Introduced May 16, 2007; passed/agreed to in the Senate by Unanimous Consent on May 16, 2007.
  • S.Res. 196, a resolution commending Idaho on winning the bid to host the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games. Introduced May 14, 2007, passed December 2008.
  • S.Res. 126, a resolution designating April 2007 as "Financial Literacy Month." Introduced March 27, 2007; passed/agreed to in the Senate by Unanimous Consent on March 27, 2007.
  • S.Res. 112, a resolution designating April 6, 2007, as "National Missing Persons Day." Introduced March 20, 2007; passed/agreed to in the Senate by Unanimous Consent on April 17, 2007.
  • S.Res. 100, a resolution designating the week beginning March 12, 2007, as "National Safe Place Week." Introduced March 7, 2007; passed/agreed to in the Senate by Unanimous Consent on March 7, 2007.
  • S. 826, the Alice Paul Congressional Gold Medal Act, which posthumously awards a Congressional gold medal to Alice Paul, in recognition of her role in the women's suffrage movement and in advancing equal rights for women.
  • S.Res. 621 (109th Congress), a resolution declaring February 5 - 9, 2007, "Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week."
  • S.Res. 388, a resolution declaring February 4 - 8, 2008, "Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week."
  • S.Res. 710, a resolution declaring February 2 - 6, 2009, "Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week."
