Action On Transportation
See also: During the 110th Congress, I have agreed to co-sponsor the following selected measures which deal with our nation's transportation system. This is not a comprehensive list of all the legislation I have co-sponsored related to transportation. You can view a comprehensive list at the Legislation Co-Sponsored Section of this site or through the Library of Congress Thomas site.
Legislation I have supported includes:
- S. 1125, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide incentives to encourage investment in the expansion of freight rail infrastructure capacity and to enhance modal tax equity. Introduced April 17, 2007.
- S. 953, a bill to amend title 49, United States Code, to ensure competition in the rail industry, enable rail customers to obtain reliable rail service, and provide those customers with a reasonable process for challenging rate and service disputes. Introduced March 21, 2007.
- S. 881, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend and modify the railroad track maintenance credit. Introduced March 14, 2007.
- S. 875, a bill to improve energy security of the United States through a 50 percent reduction in the oil intensity of the economy of the United States by 2030 and the prudent expansion of secure oil supplies, to be achieved by raising the fuel efficiency of the vehicular transportation fleet, increasing the availability of alternative fuel sources, fostering responsible oil exploration and production, and improving international arrangements to secure the global oil supply, and for other purposes. Introduced March 14, 2007.
Other actions I have taken to support Idaho's transportation system include:
- Successfully provided funding for critical Idaho transportation projects.
- Joined with the Idaho congressional delegation regarding local efforts to improve transportation by sending a letter of support for a Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) public transit system project. Click here to read a copy of the letter (PDF file; 88 KB).
