Fighting for Independence: Judy joins former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and GOP Conference Chairman Adam Putnam during a press conference in Washington to protest the House leadership’s decision to adjourn for a summer recess without voting on a bill that would reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil or lower gas prices.
Animal Champion: Judy is presented with the 2007 Humane Advocate Award by the United States Humane Society. The Human Advocate Award is presented annually to lawmakers who display leadership on animal welfare issues.
Boosting High-Tech Competitiveness: Judy visits with Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates after his testimony before the House Science and Technology Committee. Judy is a senior member of the committee and Co-Chair of the House Research and Development Caucus.
Over There: Judy visits with U.S. troops from Illinois stationed at Camp Bondsteel in newly-independent Kosovo. In March 2008, Judy visited the Balkan region in her capacity as a member of the House Democracy Assistance Commission, which supports the development of democratic governments around the world.

Girls in Sports: Judy visits with Aimee Mullins, President of the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF).  Mullins represented the United States at the 1996 Paralympics Games and holds world records for leg amputees in the 200m, 100m and long jump.  On February 6th, Judy collaborated with the WSF to host an event in Washington honoring National Girls and Women in Sports Day and highlighting successes and challenges in the effort to improve female opportunities in athletics.
