Senator Dodd believes that freedom at home requires the United States to maintain its military superiority around the globe. In his view, America's national security strength requires well-trained Armed Forces, state-of-the-art military technologies and weapons systems, and a sustained commitment to outfit our troops with the most advanced technology available to complete their missions safely and effectively. It also requires a recognition that threats to our national security are very different today relative to even a few years ago, and that therefore it is necessary for our nation to make new investments in intelligence-gathering, weapons detection, weapons development, and troop protection.
