Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) is pushing for an extra $10 billion for transit in President Obama's $825 economic stimulus bill.

Lipinski, a member of the House Transportation Committee, sees support for increased transit money from the Democratic caucus because it's "a great way to create jobs." He's hoping the additional transit proposals will be up for consideration before the U.S. House by today. The stimulus bill allocates about $1 billion for roads and $545 million for mass transit for Illinois.
