1.23.09 - Rogers Statement on Receiving the “Friend of Farm Bureau” Award
Friday, January 23, 2009
Today, U.S. Rep. Harold “Hal” Rogers (KY-05) made the following statement upon receiving the prestigious “Friend of Farm Bureau” Award:
“Farming and family farms are the backbone of our great country, producing not only our food and fiber, but our next generation of products and energy resources. I am honored to receive the “Friend of Farm Bureau” Award, particularly from my friend and neighbor Mark Haney, and I pledge to continue to support the Kentucky Farm Bureau’s longstanding efforts to improve the agriculture economy of Kentucky.
“Be assured that I share your values and want to see the Commonwealth’s rich family farm heritage succeed. From working to lower taxes which give farmers the flexibility to upgrade their operations and encourage rural investment, to ensuring our family farms stay in tact by seeking to end the death tax, I will continue to stand up for the best interests of hardworking Kentucky farmers.”
The “Friend of Farm Bureau” Award is given at the end of each Congressional session to those Members of Congress who have a positive voting record on issues important to agriculture.
