Honoring Idahoans in Education

Action on Education

Reading is a foundation that is essential to academic success in future years.  During my time in Congress I have supported literacy efforts both in the public and private sphere.  I have partnered with First Book, a national organization dedicated to providing children with free books, in distributing over 330,000 free books to Idaho children.  I have also utilized the Library of Congress’ surplus book program to direct books to literacy organizations in Idaho.  It is a pleasure to find ways to bring the enjoyment of reading to Idaho children.  I hope to continue these efforts going forward.

First Book: This program provides new books for children in need throughout Idaho and the rest of the country. Idaho has six First Book advisory boards and I am pleased to work with this organization to improve literacy and reading among our young people. Click this link for the First Book official site.
