Guthrie Seeks Federal Disaster Designation

Congressman Brett Guthrie sent a letter today to President Barack Obama asking that Kentucky’s request for a federal disaster declaration be quickly considered.  In the letter, Guthrie highlights the nearly 400,000 Kentuckians who are still without power due to the recent winter storm that wrought havoc across a significant portion of the eastern United States.  Below is the text of Congressman Guthrie’s letter.

The Honorable Barack H. Obama
President of the United States

Dear President Obama:

It has come to my attention that Governor Steve Beshear has requested a federal disaster declaration in order to accelerate assistance to the people of Kentucky.  I strongly urge you to give swift consideration to his request.

Nearly 400,000 Kentuckians are without power today as a result of yesterday’s ice storm, which is the second largest power outage in the state’s history.

Should your staff have any further questions, please contact my office at (202) 225-3501.

Sincerely,
