WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., will play a significant role in shaping federal policy relating to Wyoming’s energy, public lands, and national parks as the newest member on two key House subcommittees. 

Lummis will serve on the Energy and Mineral Resources subcommittee, as well as the National Parks, Forests and Public Lands subcommittee. These two subcommittees fall under the jurisdiction of the House Committee on Natural Resources, of which Lummis is also a member. 

“Wyoming is blessed with tremendous energy resources – resources this country desperately needs,” Lummis said. “As a member of the Energy and Mineral Resources subcommittee, I will work to ensure that Wyoming’s resources do not become stranded assets. I believe in an “all of the above” approach to delivering clean and affordable energy to all Americans, and Wyoming’s energy portfolio fits the bill.” 

The Energy and Mineral Resources subcommittee oversees the production of energy and mineral resources located on public lands owned or managed by the federal government, as well as the collection of federal mineral royalties. 

“My seat on the National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands subcommittee will provide Wyoming with a voice on many of the public land issues facing our state. I will fight to protect access to Wyoming’s world-class national parks, work to eliminate the pine beetle infestation that is ravaging our forests, and ensure multiple-use of our vast public lands.” 

The Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands oversees the Bureau of Land Management, the Forest Service and the National Park Service.
