The Corcoran College of Art + Design, in partnership with the United States Botanic Garden, is proud to announce a new certificate in botanical art. The program is an in-depth focus on the traditions, techniques and history of botanical art and illustration. Students will have the opportunity to study contemporary concepts and materials and to integrate this knowledge into the well established and highly regarded field of botanical art and illustration.
Beginning foundation courses will emphasize the accurate and detailed depiction of botanical forms. A variety of electives including watercolor, oil painting, clay and photography, will build on the student’s knowledge. Courses are taught at both the Corcoran’s Georgetown and Downtown campuses as well as at the United States Botanic Garden.
The certificate program requires 18 credits accumulated over 3 years as follows:

1 ) Painting Spring Bulbs in Watercolor - January 24, 25, 31, and February 1
2) Creative Flower Photography - Feb. 7, 14, 21, and 28.
