To provide you with in-depth knowledge to the workings of a
Congressional office - which we hope will be an exciting experience!
Legislative Assistance: (For Washington, D.C. applicants)
You will work with the legislative assistants whose assigned issues
are of interest to you. A major responsibility will be helping
Congresswoman Shelley Berkley answer constituent mail. Information
for these responses is usually found by calling government agencies,
departments and Congressional committees - thus increasing your
understanding of the legislative process and how the federal
government operates.
Casework Assistance: (For Las Vegas applicants) Duties
include: greeting constituents, answering phones, screening calls
and taking accurate phone messages from constituents and from
agencies, analyzing constituent mail and working with agencies to
solve the problem, entering and tracking cases on casework database,
and filing.
Clerical and General Office Tasks: You will file, draft
letters, run errands, sort mail, and help out with the telephones.
