1/14/09: Dodd Delivers Remarks at Global Action for Children Award Ceremony

Accepts GAC's First Annual Children's Champion Award

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today delivered the following remarks at the Global Action for Children’s first annual Children’s Champion Award Ceremony.  Dodd was honored for his leadership in passing “The Tom Lantos and Henry J. Hyde United States Global Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Reauthorization Act of 2008,” and for authoring “The Global Child Survival Act,” which would drastically reduce child and maternal mortality rates abroad. 


1/09/09: Dodd Addresses Connecticut Transportation, Environment, Infrastructure Leaders

Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd today will address the Regional Transportation Forum presented by the Connecticut Sierra Club and the National Corridors Initiative. Dodd will speak about the need for investing in our state and nation’s infrastructure in order to create jobs and spur economic growth.

 

"We have a golden opportunity in the coming months to not only rebuild existing transportation infrastructure and provide new capacity – and we need to – but to also start thinking differently about the role transportation plays in America – about how we get to work and school, how our businesses move and ship products. Not just how we live our lives today, but how we want to live our lives tomorrow."


1/07/09: Dodd Announces Health Care Listening Tour

"Connecticut Prescriptions for Change" Discussions Will Be Held Across the State

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), a senior member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) who has been asked by Chairman Kennedy to serve as his chief deputy for health reform, announced today that he will be kicking off his Connecticut Prescriptions for Change listening tour later this month with a town hall meeting in East Hartford.  The listening tour will take him throughout Connecticut where he will host a series of town hall meetings to hear first hand from the people of Connecticut about their views and ideas for reforming our nation’s health care system.


1/07/09: Dodd Meets with HUD Secretary-Designate Shaun Donovan

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, met with Shaun Donovan, the Secretary-Designate for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Dodd announced today that the Committee will hold a hearing on Donovan’s nomination next Tuesday.

12/03/08: Dodd Invites Connecticut Retail Automotive Executive to Testify at Hearing on Automotive Industry

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), Chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, will hear testimony from James Fleming, the president of the Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association, at the Committee’s second hearing to examine the state of America’s automobile industry on Thursday morning. 

 


11/19/08: Dodd Announces Hearing on Special Inspector General for Troubled Asset Relief Program

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), Chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, today announced that the Committee will hold a hearing next week on Neil M. Barofsky, President Bush’s intended nominee to be the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program. This position was designed to conduct, supervise, and coordinate audits and investigations of the purchase, management and sale of assets under the Troubled Asset Relief Program.


11/15/08: Middletown Press – Jeff Mill - Dodd calls after-school programs critical

November 15, 2008

FARMINGTON — U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd warned Saturday that the failure to develop comprehensive after-school programs places not just children, but the nation as a whole at risk.

 

Speaking before nearly 300 delegates of the Connecticut After School Network symposium, Dodd hailed their efforts and told the delegates he uses Connecticut’s programs “as a model for national after-school programs.”

NEW BRITAIN - For years Richard Ahern labored to put food on his family's table and a roof over their heads. Then, three years ago he was injured and went on Social Security disability. Unable to pay his heating bills, he turned to the Human Resources Agency of New Britain for help.

 

"I found people here wanting to help me, to keep my family in our home," he said. "If it hadn't been for HRA, we'd be on the streets."


10/22/08: Dodd Holds Press Conference on Passage of Mental Health Parity Bill

Senator Chris Dodd, a senior member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions and a longtime supporter of mental health parity, held a press conference at the Institute of Living in Hartford on Wednesday to celebrate the passage of the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008.
