4th District Issues
Nearly forty years ago, the world held its breath as the Apollo 11 astronauts, defying the limits of modern technology and the reach of our imagination, landed on the moon. It was not just the accomplishment of the mission, but the boldness of its vision that we must live up to today.
The challenges we face in this century will test the ingenuity and innovation of our great nation. It will take no less than the faith and determination that put us on the moon to find the cures for today's diseases, take strides against global climate change and move our nation towards energy independence. In Tennessee, advancements in alternative fuels are under way at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, while Tennesseans now can power their cars on E85 ethanol from fueling stations across the State.
As a member of the House Science Committee, I look forward to working with my Chairman Bart Gordon in the neighboring 6th District to build upon the work being done at Arnold Air Force Base, the University of Tennessee Space Institute, Oak Ridge National Lab, and other heavyweight institutions throughout the Tennessee Valley Corridor.
Congressman Davis previously served on the House Committee on Science and Technology during his first two terms in the House. Davis also currently serves on the House Appropriations Committee.
