CONGRESSMAN COSTELLO ANNOUNCES RADIO GRANT FOR WSIU

Washington- U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that WSIU, 91.9 FM, at Southern Illinois University has received a grant for $42,330 for purchasing an automation and audio storage system.

"These funds will improve production capabilities of the radio station and allow WSIU to continue providing public broadcasting to the region," Costello said.

The funds were made available through the Public Telecommunications Facilities Program under the Department of Commerce. Funds are used nationwide to extend public broadcasting to unserved areas, maintain public broadcasting service, assist public television with digital conversion, and develop new distance learning services.
