HOUSE PASSES FUNDS
FOR SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced
today that the House of Representatives has approved funding for projects at
Scott Air Force Base as part of the Defense Authorization bill for fiscal year
2004. Security upgrades to the Shiloh Gate totaling $1.9 million were included
in President Bush's budget and remain in the bill. Also, Costello was able to
include $2.52 million for planning and design of a new Tanker Airlift Control
Center. Similar legislation will next be considered by the Senate. "Scott Air Force Base is an integral part of our national security
system," said Costello. "These funds will make important improvements at the
base to enhance its security and working environment - the dedicated men and
women at Scott deserve nothing less." ###
