U.S. CONGRESSMAN JERRY COSTELLO PARTICIPATES IN OPENING OF NEW SHILOH-SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE METROLINK STATION

Shiloh-Scott Air Force Base-IL - On Saturday, June 21, 2003 U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) participated in the dedication and opening of the new Shiloh-Scott Air Force Base MetroLink Station.

Costello, along with officials from the United States Air Force, State and local officials first boarded a special VIP MetroLink Train at the MetroLink Southwestern Illinois Community College Station in Belleville, Illinois. Costello and the officials then took a 3.5 mile ride to the new Shiloh-Scott Air Force Base Station to officially open the new facility for service which begins Monday, June 23, 2003.

The new Shiloh-Scott Station will serve Scott Air Force Base and eastern St. Clair County commuters. The station, which joins 8 others in St. Clair County, will have two sections - one open to the public and the other open to only Scott Air Force Base commuters. There will be 645 public parking spaces on the open side of the station and 421 parking spots on the military side.

When this station opens it will be accompanied by an expanded Metrobus schedule on the base to facilitate transfers directly onto MetroLink.
