U.S. CONGRESSMAN
JERRY COSTELLO PRESENTS MEDALS TO AREA VETERAN Belleville, IL -- U.S. Representative Jerry Costello, (D-Ill)
presented several military medals on Thursday, December 19, 2002 to honor the
military service of Charles Tuggle of Cahokia, Illinois. Costello presented
the medals to Mr. Tuggle at his Belleville District office. PFC Tuggle is a WW 2 veteran of the US Army. He participated in
several engagements in four different theaters (France, Luxembourg, Belgium
and Germany). His position within his unit was as a member of a mortar crew.
He also served as a paratrooper whose missions sometimes required landing behind
enemy lines. He entered the US Army in 1943 and was honorably discharged in
1945. Mr. Tuggle contacted Congressman Costello's office to help get
him his medals after he attempted to do so on his own. Among the medals awarded
to Tuggle are; the Bronze Star, Good Conduct, American Campaign, European-African-Middle
Eastern Campaign medal, WW 2 Victory medal, Army of Occupation-Germany and the
Combat Infantryman badge. Costello said that "securing medals for our veterans is one of
the most highest honors I have while I serve as a US Congressman." ###
