FULL COMMITTEE ACTION

The Committee on Energy and Commerce met, pursuant to notice, in open markup session, and took the following actions:

H.R. 4040, the "Consumer Product Safety Modernization Act", as amended by the Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection, was ordered favorably reported, amended, by a yea-nay vote: 51 – 0.

The following amendments were offered:

An amendment in the nature of a substitute offered on Thursday, December 13, 2007, by Mr. Dingell, # 1, manager’s amendment, was adopted, amended, by a voice vote;

An amendment offered by Ms. Eshoo, # 1F, to the Dingell substitute amendment was adopted by a voice vote;

An amendment offered by Mr. Matheson, # 1G, to the Dingell substitute amendment was withdrawn;

An amendment offered by Mr. Pitts, # 1H, to the Dingell substitute amendment was withdrawn;

Two amendments offered en bloc by Mr. Hill, # 1I, to the Dingell substitute amendment was withdrawn;

An amendment offered by Mr. Burgess, # 1J, to the Dingell substitute amendment was withdrawn;

An amendment offered by Ms. Schakowsky, # 1K, to the Dingell substitute amendment was withdrawn; and

An amendment offered by Mr. Markey, # 1L, to the Dingell substitute amendment was defeated by a yea-nay vote: 14 - 35.

A motion offered by Mr. Barton regarding the election by the House of Rep. Roy Blunt (R-MO) to the full Committee membership, ranking behind Mr. Fossella, and that Mr. Blunt fill the vacancy on the Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality, ranking behind Mr. Pickering, was approved by a voice vote.

H.R. 1216, the "Cameron Gulbransen Kids and Cars Safety Act of 2007", was ordered favorably reported, amended, by a voice vote.
 
The following amendment was offered:

An amendment in the nature of a substitute offered by Ms. Schakowsky, # 1, manager’s amendment, was adopted by a voice vote.

 

THE COMMITTEE ADJOURNED SUBJECT TO THE CALL OF THE CHAIR
